Kids enjoying Story HourStory Hour

Each Tuesday at 10:00, the Donnellson Public Library holds Story Hour for preschool children.  During the Summer Reading Program, Story Hour is linked to the overall theme chosen for each year.  In 2008, our Summer Reading theme will be "Catch the Reading Bug!"

Story Hour is a program to teach young children to appreciate books, and to learn to socailize with others while making a simple take-home craft.  We do a little singing, playing, dancing, and especially reading!  Each week, the Librarian develops a theme, either linked to the calendar, holidays, or skills-learning for preschoolers.  After reading at least three picture books, we do a simple make and take craft.  Story Hour kids need to be accompanied by a responsible care-giver, either a daycare provider, parent, grandparent, or older sibling (over 12 years of age.)

During the Summer Reading Program, young children will be able to earn prizes by reporting on the reading they do at home with their parents and siblings.

Summer Reading Program:  June - July, 2016

Get Ready, Get Set, READ!  That is our theme for this year's fabulous Summer Reading Program.  It is all bout healthy bodies, healthy minds, and fun.  I hope your kids are filling-out their reading logs, as they will receive an invitation to our year-end Summer Pool Party at Green Acres Country Club, Thursday, Aug. 4, 6:00-8:00.  It is by invitation only, for those who finish their goal!  Come in and see us, if you do not have a reading log!
