The Donnellson Public Library is one of only 17 small libraries in Iowa to be selected for a partnership to offer free art classes to seniors (55 or older.)  The grant was given to the Iowa Arts Council in partnership with the State Library of Iowa from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.  Classes will be taught by Nicole Karath,  program coordinator at the Art Center of Burlington. The free classes will be held in May in the library’s activity room.  The schedule is as follows:  Wednesday, May 2, 1:00-2:30:  Pencil Drawing.   Wednesday, May 9, 1:00-2:30:  Colored pencil drawing.  Wednesday, May 16: 1:00-2:30:  Watercolor pencils.   We have 8 seats still open in the class! “This is a wonderful opportunity to get free art lessons!  Don’t delay!” said Library Director, Brenda Knox.
