Join Friends of the Library

Friends of the Library is a nonprofit advocacy organization which supports the Library. Our volunteer members advocate, educate, and raise funds on behalf of the Library, its patrons, and the community.

The Friends of Donnellson Public Library formed a 501 (c)(3) organization in 2010 to support our initial fundraising project for a new building.  They began by taking on the annual book sale at Fall Festival, and adding an additional sale in June.  During the Building project, they also held spaghetti suppers, receptions, and various fundraisers to help the library, donating over $114,000.  The Friends also have the Richard Proenneke fund, and sales of his books, professional art work by Simply Brie, and direct donations also contributed substantially to our beautiful new museum in his honor.

"The Friends raise funds to be used by the Library for activities not ordinarily covered under the Library's operating budget since ongoing Library operations are paid for by city and county dollars. The Friends currently have about 30 members.  Keep in mind they have fun, social events, as well as fundraising events." (Library Director, Brenda Knox.)
